I’ve always wanted to make only hakka food for a party which comprises some of the most time-consuming recipes e.g Hakka Thunder Tea Rice (Lei Cha), Hakka Pork Belly with Yam (kau yuk) and Hakka Abacus Beads. So I did on my birthday! We were in the kitchen ALL day. I’ve never cook something which requires so much work. I didn’t even have time to change into my pretty clothes and decorate the wall properly. But the food is sooooo good, it’s worth it!

This birthday is so flowery. Amanda made me a beautiful cake sprinkled with edible flowers. So pretty! And Yasmine sent a huge bouquet of pink flowers with cabbage on it (haha!) and some seeds from New York. Looking forward to plant some tomatoes, kale and other herbs. It’s truly timely since all my basil died on the same day…

Oh, see the stalk in the glass bottle? It’s sayur manis from making Lei Cha. Mommy told me I can poke it into soil and it’ll grow fairly easily. Let’s see if I can make lei cha with sayur manis from my Mini Eden one day…
