Weight is a topic I avoid, unless using it to poke fun of myself or him. Health on the other hand is a topic that’s always on my lips. Practices much to the chagrin of a the bon vivant.
Our conversations are peppered with these two topics, usually surrounding with my effort to feed him nutritious food tasty enough for a man with refined taste buds…
He voiced his concern upon eating a new nutritious breakfast I discovered: chia seed pudding topped with passionfruit…
“Kids must not be weird. They must eat normal food. Imagine going over to a friends house for stay over and asking for chia seed pudding at breakfast!”
“By the time there are kids all their friends’ mummies will be reading JewelPie and making chia seed pudding for their kids!” I protested.
“Why are you looking at my chiseled face?”
“Chiseled? Chubby you mean?”
“Keep making fun of me lah…”
“Chubby can be a compliment. Babies are chubby…”
Then he let out an unconvincing chuckle…
“Do not trust a lean and hungry man, says Shakespeare.”
“You said it a few times. Didn’t know it’s from Julius Caesar”
“Yup. So I shouldn’t trust you then?”
“No. I am lean and hungry”
In my head, I thought: You’re hungry hence not lean. Oh, I can be such a meanie. Thankfully people around me put up with me!
